A genius. That's what he was. Even before Shaft busted things wide open, his skills as a songwriter and arranger were one of the major forces behind the success of Stax. As the awards and recognition came, he never forgot where he came from.
"If you feel like you wanna sing, 'cause singing is your thing - sing on."

Thanks for this refreshingly pithy post on a great man. R.I.P Isaac Hayes. I am so sad.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful and versatile performer!! I have collected much of his work, including whatever vinyl and CDs that I can find. His death is a great loss to the world!!
